Do your part by joining hundreds of thousands of Methodists from around the world and participating on Saturday, May 19 at 9:30 a.m. or Sunday May 20 at 9:45 a.m. when teams of volunteers descend upon our community in a united effort to Change the World. Contact C.J. Shell with questions.

We are just a few weeks away from Project Transformation, the eight week summer reading camp held here at FUMC for the fifth year. Project Transformation Staf are currently recruiting reading volunteers to come to the church from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, beginning June 4. “The easiest way to volunteer is to simply sign up on the bulletin board located next to the FUMC Library,” says Casi Morris who along with C. J. Shell is the site coordinator.

Vacation Bible School 2012 is Sunday, June 3 – Wednesday, June 6. This year’s theme is Operation Overboard: Dare to Go Deep With God.
First Church is known for going OVERBOARD for VBS! You will not recognize our classrooms and hallways as we take your children through four exciting stories from the Bible. We have a family-friendly dinner at 5 p.m. and start assembly at 6 p.m. We wrap it all up with a closing assembly at 8 p.m.! >>Register now.

Each Sunday during 2012, Dr. Kevin Tully will be preaching on one great verse from the Bible. Each Sunday, after the sermon is preached on your way out of church that day you will have an opportunity to pick up a card which will have that verse on it.
Everyone will receive a box to provide easy storage and a reminder of the cards. On the reverse of each card is a prayer. Some are mealtime prayers; some are especially designed for young children, families, or young readers. Others will be appropriate for bedtime or mornings.
During the course of the year, one week at a time you’ll have an opportunity to learn, memorize, and reflect on this verse; to use it in a way that God leads you to use it.

In an effort to preserve the history of the church, Joe Todd will be conducting interviews with anyone who has a story to tell about the church. Joe will conduct interviews and put it all together as a part of something special that we will take to our new building. If you are interested, please contact the church office.
